The Bobcat girl closed out regular season play with a win over rival Ames 57-46 as Sally Spooner carried the offense in the first half finishing with 12 points total and Tiffany VanGundy carried it in the second half with 13 points.

LDF girls crushed Belle Plaine 81-44 as Darla Wolken went 10-of-11 from the field for 23 points, followed by Lisa Peterson with 21, Robin Gray with 20 and Dana Rouse adding 13 points.

East Marshall students Gilberto Espinoza and Jacklin Stonewall were selected to participate in honor bands with the Cyclone Honor Band as Espinoza was chosen to play his clarinet for the Gold Band and Stonewall was third chair of the alto saxophone in the Cardinal Band.

West Marshall Trojans wrestlers rolled in the 1-A sectional racking up 224 points to take first as Jesse Nason remained undefeated at 152 pound and brother Matt Nason won the 103 pound along with Walker Buck taking the 130 pound class and Richard Affeldt the 189 pound title.

The West Marshall girls basketball squad captured the Sectional Championship crown as they defeated BCL 60-33 with Bev Seeger leading the guards with five blocked shots and nine rebounds and Paula Eckerman leading the scoring with 13 points along with teammate Sara Sharp’s 12.

The Bobcat boys stopped the Southeast Polk Rams 72-56 as Jim Dobbins exploded for 22 points, followed by Kenny Diggins, 18 and Eric Lynch adding 16 points.
