P.E.O. Chapter MJ met at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 at Gallery Gardens on Main Street to celebrate Paula Rutherford and Becky Hagen’s 50th year as a P.E.O. Special honors were also given to Barb Runneals for being a 70-year P.E.O. member. Each honoree was asked to share special memories as a P.E.O. They were each presented a P.E.O. bracelet to commemorate the occasion. Vice President Charlene Martin conducted the regular business meeting. Cottey College, Educational Loan Fund and Star Scholarship chairmen each gave their reports bringing members up-to-date on the requirements for potential grants and loans to participants. Members are encouraged to look for possible recipients and let the chairmen know right away. Refreshments were served by Martin. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Hope United Methodist Church for a service project and 7 p.m. for the business meeting.
