Evening Lions domates to handicap swings

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO

After visiting a city park in Cedar Rapids and her interaction with handicap children in the Marshalltown School District, Sandy Thomae wanted to make sure the handicap children in Marshalltown had the same opportunity to be able to swing in the parks in Marshalltown. Thomae brought the idea of a handicap swing to the Marshalltown Evening Lions board in June of 2023. After corresponding with Geoff Hubbard, Marshalltown P&R director, about the cost of a swing, the Marshalltown Evening Lions Board voted to purchase a swing. Thanks to the overwhelming response to its fall candy and nut fundraiser, the Evening Lions were able to purchase a handicap swing at Anson Park. This will be the fourth swing to be installed in Marshalltown parks this summer.
