Two local 10-year-old girls who will be sponsored by Iowa ET, the National TTT Society, at the Des Moines YMCA Camp this summer, were identified by Sue Cope, ET camp chairman, when that chapter met recently. The group will outfit the girls completely for camp, provide shopping trips and transportation to and from camp and also sponsor several pre-and post-camp activities for them.

Providing camp experiences for local girls is the primary focus of all TTT chapters across the nation, and many of them, like ET, follow the campers through middle and high school and also assist financially with the post-high-school educations. Fundraising for this support is always a secondary TTT activity, and this year, for the first time, Iowa ET is sponsoring a Golf Tournament – June 24 at the American Legion Golf Course. Lisa Dougall, chairman of the tournament, says entry is $250 for a foursome, including 18 holes, a cart and lunch. There will be raffle prizes, flight awards and course prizes. Members of the chapter are soliciting prizes and sponsors through June 1 (title and hole sponsors are also needed).

Prior to the chapter meeting, officers held TTT’s traditional Founders’ Day Ceremony, each lighting a candle in memory of a founder and the characteristic she contributed to the society’s purpose. Deb Nuss, president, read a challenging statement of goals written by a member of the National Board; the society’s current focus is growth, which matches ET’s 2022-23 goal of adding at least two members.

Members signed up to work at a Taco John’s tip-night (4-8 p.m.) on May 8, discussed the chapter’s role in managing the Market Place at the National TTT Convention in Johnston in October and set a July date for the summer brunch get-together.
