The Green Mountain girls captured the Benton Community Tournament title defeating HLV 3-0 in the first game and Benton Community 3-2 in the championship match giving Julie Eich both wins as she fanned 15 batters for both games.

The West Marshall softball team scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to surge away from Newton and win 11-1 as Jordan Nolta and Amber Pfantz both finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Stuart Gardner, 12, and Jesse Bishop, 12, examined a tadpole they caught at Green Castle Recreation Area. The weekend was perfect weather for tadpole hunting.

The West Marshall softball team stayed No. 1 as they defeated Ballard 10-3 with Julie Gaunt’s two-run triple in the second inning to put the Trojanettes ahead for the rest of the game.

Carol Eich threw a two-hitter as Green Mountain beat Garwin 14-2 in three innings with Lori Davis, Chris Sendson, Lori Petermeier and Rene Davis all supplying two hit apiece to lead the offense.
