• Jose Carlos Mercado Sanchez made an initial appearance on a fraudulent use of registration charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a speeding charge. Mercado Sanchez pleaded guilty to all charges. On the registation and driver’s license charges the fines are $260 with a $39 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $354 on each count. The fine on the speeding charge is $155 with a $23.25 surcharge and court costs of $55 for a total of $233.25. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Luis Angel Rodriguez Garcia made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an initial appearance charge and a possession of a controlled substance-second offense. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Nov. 24. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Robert James Morgan made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Morgan pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50, due within 30 days.

• A 15-year-old male made an initial appearance on a failure to yield to an emergency vehicle charge, a speeding charge, a violation of an instruction permit charge and a reckless driving charge. On the reckless driving charge a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 27, 2021, in Magistrate Court. The juvenile pleaded guilty to all other charges. On the failure to yield charge the fine is $135 with a $20.25 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $210.25. The fine on the speeding charge is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $175.75. The fine on the instruction permit charge is $70 with a $10.50 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $135.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Toshia Tanee Nusbaum made an initial appearance on a harassment-first degree charge. Joel Waters is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Nov. 23. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Jacob Deane Roberts made a failure to appear for an arraignment on a controlled substance charge. The arraignment is rescheduled for 1 p.m. on Nov. 30. The bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Alejandro Yepez Alvarez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge and a no insurance charge. Yepez Alvarez pleaded guilty to all charges. On the driving under suspension charge the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50. The fine on the driving on the wrong side is $135 with a $20.25 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $210.25. The fine on the no insurance charge is $325 is $48.75 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $428.75. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Mary Margaret Yakel made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Yakel pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50, due within 30 days.

• Jack Allen Edwards made an initial appearance on a simple assault charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2021, in Magistrate Court. Bond will continue as posted. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Angela Jean Dunbar made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Dunbar pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge with $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50, due within 30 days.

• On Thursday, a theft of a motor vehicle valued more than $10,000 was reported in the 2800 block of South Center Street.

• On Thursday, a case of vandalism to property in the commission of burglarizing a motor vehicle was reported in the 1700 block of South Seventh Avenue.

First Ave., a motor vehicle accident with no injuries at 610 Lee St., a motor vehicle accident with injuries at West Church Street and North Third Street, three dispatched/canceled en routes to: two at 1211 W.
