Clemons elected secretary of Iowa Automobile Dealers Association

WEST DES MOINES — Mike Clemons, of Clemons Chevrolet in Marshalltown, was elected secretary of the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association at the association’s annual meeting, held on April 28.

“Mike Clemons’ election to the executive committee of the IADA board of directors is a testament to the high regard his fellow auto dealers have for his business skill, experience and acumen. Mike is a longtime volunteer in our organization, and I’m excited to see him taking on this new leadership role,” said IADA President Bruce Anderson.

Clemons previously served as three terms as a director at large, from 2003-2006, 2006-2009 and 2015-2017. He will hold the office of secretary until the annual meeting in 2018.

Wright elected to Iowa Automobile Dealers Association Board of Directors

WEST DES MOINES — Dave Wright, of Dave Wright Auto, a dealership group with locations in Hiawatha and Marshalltown, was elected to the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association Board of Directors at the association’s spring meeting, held on April 28. He will represent District One, which covers the same area as Iowa’s first congressional district.

“Dave Wright has a well-deserved national reputation for being on the cutting edge of auto dealership best practices,” said IADA President Bruce Anderson. “I am thrilled that he is bringing his passion for the industry and his knack for innovation and forward-thinking to the IADA board of directors.”

Wright was elected to a three-year term and will represent dealers in District One until the spring meeting in 2020.

Spellman becomes Allergy Antidote Practitioner

Rhonda Spellman, Certified Cold Laser Technician and owner of Allergy Elimination Plus, Inc. has finished her training and is now an Allergy Antidote Practitioner.

Spellman opened her office at Nourish Healthy Weight & Wellness Center on Sept. 1, 2016, in Marshalltown.

She specializes in Allergy Elimination, Pain Relief and Emotional Healing, using a variety of cold lasers, ultrasound healing and therapeutic massage equipment.

Hawkins appointed Director of Nursing at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown

Christopher Hawkins, RN, BSN, of State Center, has been appointed Director of Nursing with UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown. Hawkins was most recently the Director of the following patient care units; Medical, Surgical, Telemetry, Pediatrics, Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Wound Care and Nursing Administration at Central Iowa Healthcare, now known as UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown.

Hawkins’ six years of direct Intensive Care Unit nursing experience and nine years of nursing leadership includes Manager of Critical Care and Emergency Services at Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Neb. He also served as Clinic Manager of the Medical Surgical Department at Memorial Community Hospital and Health Systems (Alegent Health) in Blair, Neb.

Hawkins began his healthcare career in 1998 and received his BSN from Creighton University. He completed the Iowa Valley Leadership Program in 2014.

The new UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown Board of Trustees elected officers April 28: Lance Horbach, Board Chair, Independent Insurance Services; Dr. Terry Briggs, Vice Chair, retired physician; Mary Wertzberger, Secretary, RACOM; Gregg Sharp, Treasurer, Green Products of Conrad; Dr. Joseph Pollpeter, McFarland Clinic; David Barajas, Marshalltown Regional Partnership; Bettie Bolar, retired nurse; Bob Buckley, Kirk Gross Company and Dave Happel, retired accountant at Bergan Paulsen.
