Man assaults fellow employee

A local man was arrested by the Marshalltown Police Department and taken to Marshall County Jail last week on charges of assault/use of weapon. Dustin James Hickman, 34, allegedly struck a fellow employee in the testicles and waved a pocket knife in a threatening manner during an altercation earlier this month in the confines of local retailer, according to police and Marshall County District Court records. Additionally, Hickman placed the pocket knife against the back of the victim’s neck. The defendant admitted to police to drawing a pocket knife and lighter from his pocket during the incident. A Marshall County Magistrate issued a no contact order against the defendant, meaning he can not contact the victim The court also appointed the defendant a public defender. Bond is $2,000 cash or surety. Preliminary hearing is July 23.
