Man jailed after punching victim

Fruth

Joshua Joseph Fruth, 33, Marshalltown, was arrested by local police for first offense domestic abuse assault Sunday and taken to jail.

The Marshalltown Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of North First Street at approximately 4 p.m., according to the police report. Upon investigation, police determined Fruth was the aggressor because he punched the victim in the head and caused swelling and bruising.

A magistrate judge issued a no contact order against Fruth to protect the victim. Additionally, Fruth was appointed an attorney and was released Fruth on his own recognizance, according to court documents.

Fruth’s preliminary hearing is Oct. 25.
