According to a report released Friday afternoon by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Tama County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 4:35 a.m. Friday, June 18 from a rural residence seven miles southwest of Traer.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found Ryan Cooper, 42, deceased in what appeared to be a violent death. Officials did not comment on the cause of death.

An investigation is being conducted by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa DCI and the Tama County Attorney’s Office. The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy.
