T-R PHOTO BY ROBERT MAHARRY

North Dakota Gov. and Republican presidential candidate Doug Burgum, pictured at center, stopped at Legends American Grill and enjoyed lunch with a small group of about 10 as part of a campaign event in Marshalltown Sunday. Also pictured alongside Burgum are Mandy Abernathy of Marshalltown and Linda Medhus of Gilman. During the visit, Burgum discussed a variety of issues including the border, energy policy and his plans to improve the overall economic outlook if elected. The most recent polling averages show Burgum in sixth place with 1.7 percent support behind former President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Sunday marked Burgum’s second stop in Marshalltown after he and his wife Kathryn visited the Maid-Rite back in June.
