Former Conrad Chamber/Main Street director facing more theft charges

GRUNDY CENTER — The former executive director of the Conrad Chamber/Main Street organization, who was previously charged with writing over $23,000 in checks to herself from the accounts of the Beaman Conrad Emergency Response Team (BCERTs) while serving as its secretary/treasurer, was arrested Monday on allegations that she stole more than $25,000 over a four-year period during her tenure as the leader of Chamber/Main Street.

According to a press release from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Krista Grant was charged with ongoing criminal conduct, a Class B felony, fraudulent use of a credit card, a Class D felony, two counts of second degree theft, each a Class D felony, and two counts of theft from an older individual, a Class D felony and one count of fourth degree theft, a serious misdemeanor.

Grant was booked into the Grundy County Jail and later made her initial appearance. She then posted a $51,000 surety bond and was released.
