Polls open for unincorporated Marshall County LOSST vote
Voters in the unincorporated areas of Marshall County will have the chance to head to the polls from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to vote on the one percent Local Option Sales and Service Tax (LOSST) renewal after it previously failed last November.
The tax will continue to be imposed regardless of the outcome, but a majority of voters must approve it to keep the approximately $1.7 million in revenue allocated annually within Marshall County, of which 50 percent funds county roads and bridges and the other 50 percent is set aside for property tax relief.
According to the Marshall County Auditor/Recorder’s office, the polling places are as follows:
• Liscomb Community Center, 114 Main St., Liscomb — Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Bangor, Liscomb and Taylor Townships
• Melbourne Recreation Center, 613 Main St., Melbourne — Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Eden, Logan, Washington and State Center Townships
• Le Grand Community Building, 206 N. Vine St., Le Grand — Residents that line in the unincorporated areas of Green Castle and Le Grand Townships
• IVCCD Administration Building, 3702 S. Center St., Marshalltown — Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Jefferson and Timber Creek Townships
Orphan Grain Train, 302 Bevins St., Clemons — Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Liberty, Marietta & Minerva Townships
• Green Mountain Community Park Building, 111 Woolston St., Green Mountain — Residents that live in the unincorporated areas of Marion and Vienna Townships
