Bobcat bowlers split at Waterloo East

WATERLOO — Marshalltown girls’ bowling took home a win over Waterloo East on Tuesday at Cadillac XBC, while the Bobcat boys were handed their first dual defeat of the season.

The girls won 2,073-1,847 and put in a strong showing in the two-game series, led by senior Madison Pickett’s 186-181–367. Autumn Thompson was close behind with 154-155–309. Katelyn Schwartz had 136-134–270, Kenedy Lammert rolled 118-136–254 and Devin Peterson was the final counting score at 127-110–237.

Marshalltown was at 1,437 after the series and then went 144-112-127-117-136 in the Bakers games to seal a win. The MHS girls are now 5-1 on the year in duals.

On the other side, the MHS boys were outpaced early and often in a 2,984-2,517 defeat. No Bobcat bowler cleared 365 in their two-game series totals, with Javi Nunez leading the way at 200-164–364. Jayden Beichley was not far behind on 146-201–347 and senior Aaron Ratte rolled 189-146–335. Gage Grieves had 139-178–317 and Damon Borton was the final counting score, rolling a 158-145–303. Marshalltown was outscored in the Bakers games 978-851.

Up next for both Bobcat teams is a match at Fort Dodge on Monday with a start time of 3 p.m.
