ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Drake guard Roman Penn was named the Missouri Valley Conference’s men’s basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. This marked the second time this season Penn was awarded the honor.

Penn averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a pair of decisive wins for Drake over Murray State and Southern Illinois last week. The Calumet City, Ill., native scored 18 points, going 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 at the free-throw line with five rebounds and three assists at Murray State. On Saturday against Southern Illinois, Penn delivered 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor with five rebounds and a game-high eight assists.

The Bulldogs head to Cedar Falls tonight for an 8 p.m. rivalry matchup against Northern Iowa at the McLeod Center.
