Lions Foundation trustee speaks to Evening Lions

The Marshalltown Evening Lions started this month out with the students from Development for the Advancement of History. It was great to hear their enthusiasm for history and connecting with the community through service and fundraising.

We ended the month with a update from Allen Ricks, of Kellogg, who is the Iowa Lions Foundation trustee. Ricks commended the group on its continued contributions to the foundation which supports the Iowa Lions Eye bank, hearing aids bank, cornea transplant center and dog food for the Fort Dodge prison raised Leader Dog puppies. The club was honored to know all of its contributions to the foundation benefit Iowans.

The lion mascots went home with Sandy Thomae and Dave Espersen. Hope they rest up before all those summer vacations start. Look for the Evening Lions next month making popcorn at the St. Francis Funfest on May 19. The summer popcorn event calendar is filling up fast.

Remember to stop and get some Lions popcorn outside of Hy-Vee Drugstore in the Meadow Lane Mall every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at Hy-Vee Grocery the last Wednesday of every month from 1-7 p.m.

If you are interested in learning more about the Marshalltown Evening Lions or Lions International, contact Judy Stone at 641-328-0270 or any Lions member or stop by the Salvation Army building where we hold meetings on the first and third Wednesday nights of every month beginning at 6:30 p.m.
