Chapter JU celebrates member’s 70 anniversary
A social meeting of Chapter JU of the P.E.O. Society was held on Monday at Tannin Wine Bar East Main Street in historic downtown Marshalltown at 1 p.m. Mary Curley, owner, talked about the development of the establishment and the goals and future of the wine bar. The social was hosted by Ann Bresler with a tea committee of Nan Ryden, Marlys Smith and Karen Bursley.
Twenty-eight JU members and two guests helped celebrate Ryden’s 70th year of P.E.O. membership. She was initiated into Chapter DY Tipton in 1949, her mother’s chapter. President Marlys Smith set the scene for the year and spoke about the many activities in which Ryden participated during the years. She presented her with a certificate and wine glass with gold & white ribbons holding a simple large daisy. Friends then enjoyed all the shareable food trays, drinks and conversation.
The next meeting of Chapter JU will be at 1 p.m. on May 6 at the Marshalltown Public Library.
