Spring Luncheon meeting at 20th Century Club

The 20th Century Club April Spring Luncheon was held at 12:30 p.m. on April 24 at the Elmwood Country Club. The Social Committee was Mary Giese, chairman, Jane Fritz, Jade McCoy and Coordinator, Joy Bryant.

Christy Hibbs, who with her husband own and operate The Market Off Main in Albion presented the program “Farm to Table — It’s Closer Than You Think.” Hibbs presented a variety of products she sells in her store, most of them which come from Iowa.

Hibbs and her husband live and farm west of Albion, along the Iowa River and Moorman Ridge. In addition to the store, they grow corn and soybeans and operate a cow/calf herd. They have been involved in Marshall County 4-H programs over the years, mentoring 4-Her’s in the beef program. In 2017, they were named Commercial Beef Producers of the Year by the Iowa Cattleman’s Association and in 2018 were named Wallaces Farmer Master Farmer of the Year.

A short business meeting was held. This year’s past Presidents Carol Wiedenmann and Karen Shipley-Cooper were recognized and the new slate of officers were presented and all committees were thanked for contributions made this year. The 2023-24 President is Linda Stephens.
