P.E.O. Chapter LT make Valentines

P.E.O. Chapter LT members met at 1 p.m. on Feb. 6 at the Marshalltown Public Library with 11 members making Valentines thanks to Hostess Kay Iverson and Tea Committee, Rhonda Miller. They provided the Valentines, cookies, quilted hearts and hearts to lace along with candy for those members not at the meeting. The meeting was conducted by president, Lisa Koester. Karen Berger presented Miller her P.E.O. past president gavel guard for two years of service. The 2023-24 Year Book is being prepared for print. Liscomb Auxiliary prepares Valentines for Vets

LISCOMB — Liscomb Legion Auxiliary Unit 87 met at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the home of Sharon Hatch in Whitten. President Hatch opened the meeting, the devotional prayer was from Chaplain Dorothy Sorensen. Five members were in attendance. The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble followed by a moment of silence for the MIA/POW and deceased veterans. Minutes of the December meeting were read and approved. Chapter MJ elects new officers

The regular monthly meeting of P.E.O. Chapter MJ was held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 6 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. April Mattingly served as co-hostess. The business meeting was called to order by President Rheba Yost. Election of officers was held. Chapter MJ will have its official visitation from the State P.E.O. representative on Sept. 18. The Iowa convention for P.E.O. will be June 3-4 in Des Moines. Janine Campbell from Chapter MJ will preside as President for P.E.O. Reciprocity this next year. The next regular business meeting will be at 7 p.m. on March 6 at Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Public Valentine Dance is Feb. 10

The Marshalltown Senior Citizens Center, an adult recreation center will be presenting a special Valentine dance from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 10. This dance is open to all area adults, does not need to be a senior to attend. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Cost of admission is $7 per person. Live music will be provided by the popular local band, The Kowboy Kix Band. The Center is conveniently located at 207 E. Church St., directly across the street from Taylor’s Maid Rite. New members, officers for 2023 Women’s Clubs Board

The Marshalltown Federation of Women’s Clubs Board meeting was Jan. 26, with returning president, Cynthia Hubbard, presiding and eight members present. Welcomed to the board as new members were Abigail Donovan, Jacki Bolar and Peggy Kelly. Returning members welcomed were Pat Preece, Kay Sinning, Hubbard and Joann Neven. St. Rita’s Club holds January meeting

St. Rita’s Study Club met on Jan. 26 at the St. Henry Church dining room. Nineteen members attended the meeting hosted by Share Miriovsky, Karen Bursley and Nancy Hartliep. President Joyce Sanders opened the meeting by leading members in the Prayer to St. Rita. Treasurer Denise Holubar reported to the group that she had sent donations to the Marshalltown Food Box, Salvation Army and the Iowa Veteran’s Home.
