Sigma Master opens new season

Sigma Master Chapter met for the first time since May 10 at El Portal for lunch on Sept. 13. Eight members and two guests answered roll call to: “What do you like/dislike about fall?” President Diane Hobson opened the meeting thanking Dorothy Perry for hosting (on her 90th birthday). Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, and Barb Noid gave the treasurer’s report and then collected the $20 dues for the year. LAUREL — The Harold McBroom Laurel American Legion Auxiliary #635 met at the Laurel Legion Home with five members present. President LaDonna Runner called the meeting to order. Marshalltown VFW sets poppies dates

Marshalltown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 processed plans toward multi topics during its August meeting. Plans toward the annual Buddy Poppies relief fund; new outdoor signs and public meals were aired by the 15 veterans in attendance. Commander Rob Shepherd presided and he came in for considerable praise from active VFW leader Rick Johnson for leadership in dressing up Harry C. Harter property at 107 E. Marshalltown VFW holds July session

Marshalltown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 at its July meeting acted on a series of ongoing topics. Prior to Commander Rob Shepherd opening the business session Bob Miller presented the VFW/American Legion Honor Guard report, noting already 51 participations at veterans funerals this year. Miller addressed donations, including Honor Guard giving $100 toward the veterans Healing Wall. Incoming donations are down this year, which he attributes to the inflationary situation. Meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 46 was called to order by President Debra Miller at 6 p.m. on July 12. Opening prayer by Chaplain Dorothy Hellberg was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, Moment of Silence and Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.
