Marshalltown VFW installs officers

Marshalltown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 installed officers for the coming new year’s session and set plans for a host of activities during Tuesday’s May meeting. YMCA-YWCA senior programs presented at MCRSPA meeting

The Marshall County Retired School Personnel Association met April 11 at the Marshalltown Library. The program was presented by Angie Paxon. It was “YMCA Senior Opportunities and Parkinson’s Disease.” One opportunity is Rock Steady Boxing which can enhance the quality of life for those with Parkinson’s for both men and women. Ave Maria Study Club holds April meeting

The Ave Maria Study Club met on April 8 with Acting President Rose Ann Jero leading the meeting. The meeting opened with praying the Rosary led by Jean Miller for members unable to attend due to health issues and for the people suffering in war-torn Ukraine. Refreshments followed served by hostesses Helen Ramsey, Joan Studts and Carol Paxon. Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary makes April plans

GLADBROOK — The wind has finally gotten tired and is quiet making for a beautiful spring day with sunshine and warmer temperatures. President Jeanne opened the meeting with flags in place and Sue Koster, acting chaplain, offering prayer on April 11. Taps followed. Four officers answered roll call with nine total attending. The Auxiliary charter was draped in memory of four loyal members lost this year, Sandra Raum, Bonnie Johannsen, Irene Alvestad and Mavis Nelson. Sigma Master holds luncheon, business meeting

Sigma Master Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi met on April 12 at the home of Alice Nicholson for lunch with the officers providing the meal for seven members and one guest. President Diane Hobson opened the meeting thanking the host. Meeting opened with various health issues for some. Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved, along with Barb Noid giving the treasurer’s report.
