Tuesday

• Joseph D. Ashby made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Jordan Levi Foreman made an initial appearance on a parole violation charge. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel. The parole hearing will be scheduled by the parole board and an administrative court judge. Foreman is being held without bond.

• Frank Coleman Summers made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Frank Kopcinski is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• James Robert Eckheart, of Conrad, made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. Jeffrey Hazen is appointed as counsel. The contempt pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 31 in Magistrate Court. Eckheart is released on his promise to appear. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Nathaniel Romone French made an initial appearance on two counts of a no valid driver’s license charge, two counts of a driving under suspension charge, an interference with official acts charge, an assault on persons in certain occupations charge, a criminal mischief-fourth degree charge, on two counts of a no insurance charge and a speeding charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 1. French is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 72 hours and sign a pre-trial release agreement.

• Christina Lynn Bennett, of Ankeny, made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. the public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Feb. 2. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. The court ordered that Bennett be photographed and fingerprinted in connection with this case.

• Gaylord Hrubes, of Urbana, made an initial appearance on a failure to maintain control charge. Hrubes pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 in Magistrate Court.

• Michael Martinez made an initial appearance on a warrant charging him with failure to appear for a contempt hearing. The contempt pre-trial conference is rescheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 7 in Magistrate Court. Martinez is released on his promise to appear.

• On Monday, a burglary was reported in the 100 block of North Second Street.

• On Monday, Jordan Foreman, 30, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Monday, James Eckheart, 35, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order and on a warrant.

• On Monday, Juan Garcia Alcaraz, 25, was arrested on a warrant from another county.

• On Monday, Rickey Hawkins Jr., 19, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order.

• On Tuesday, Frank Summers, 47, was arrested for violation of a protective order/contempt of court.

• On Tuesday, Tung Pi, 31, was arrested on a warrant from another county.

Incidents

• On Sunday, a burglary of a motor vehicle was reported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

Arrests

• On Monday, Kourtney Ann Newby, 27, was arrested for animal complaint.

• On Monday, Nathaniel Romone French, 32, was arrested for no insurance, speeding, no valid driver’s license, driving under suspension, interference with official acts, assault on persons in certain occupations-no injury and criminal mischief-fourth degree.

Accidents

• On Friday, Jan. 12, a Jeep driven by Daniel Robert Cahalan, 46, of Laurel, was northbound on Reed Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway resulting in damage to the back passenger side of the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Cahalan Jeep was estimated at $1,500.

• On Sunday, Jan. 14, a car driven by Abigail Jayne Fobian, 19, of Cedar Falls, was southbound on Highway 330 when the icy road conditions resulted in the car going out of control and sliding off the roadway to the right and down into the ditch where it struck a raised area and came to a stop. Fobian was transported to UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Damage to the Fobian car was estimated at $1,500.

• On Sunday, Jan. 14, a car driven by Patrick Jon Bell, 51, of Marshalltown, was westbound on Marshalltown Boulevard when a deer entered the roadway and was struck causing damage to the hood, grill and bumper. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bell car was estimated at $3,000.
