Tuesday

• Jonathan Kay Davis made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on May 25. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Floriberto Vega Cervantes made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a public intoxication charge. Cervantes pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 n court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days. Vega Cervantes is under a hold from two other counties.

• Christie Kapayou made an initial appearance with counsel, Marshon Dubbert, on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Kapayou was released on her promise to appear.

• Marshon Dubbert made an initial appearance on a speeding charge. Dubbert pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 27 in Magistrate Court.

• Ryan M. Snyder made an initial appearance on an unlawful use of a credit card charge and a driving under suspension charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on June 4. Snyder is released on his promise to appear.

• On Monday, a theft was reported to the Marshalltown Police Department.

Citations

• On Monday, Phyllis Jean Kroener, 54, was cited for operating a non-registered vehicle.

• On Tuesday, Luis Daniel Gutierrez Garcia, 20, was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age limit.

• On Tuesday, Juliana Kay Osgood, 19, was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age limit.

Arrests

• On Monday, Oscar Ceniceros, 22, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Monday, Phyllis Kroener, 54, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Monday, Manuel Vargas Rosas, 19, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

Accidents

• On Saturday, a pickup driven by Osbaldo Jimenez Martinez, 27, of Marshalltown, was exiting a private driveway onto West Linn Street when it struck a legally parked Chevy Cruze. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Jimenez Martinez pickup was estimated at $500 while the Chevy Cruze sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Bruce Gregory Picard, 80, of State Center, was exiting the parking lot at Legends Bar and Grill onto South Center Street when it entered traffic and collided with a car driven by Breck James Hinton, 27, of Marshalltown, which was northbound on South Center. No injuries were reported. Picard was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway and Hinton was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to the Picard vehicle was estimated at $$3,000 while the Hinton car received an estimated $1,500.

• On Monday, a Honda struck an electrical box and bollard at Riverview Park Community Building, went inside to report it and left the scene. Damage to the electrical box is estimated at $200.

• On Sunday, May 13, a car driven by Cindy J. Eller, 65, of Chicago, Ill., was westbound in the 600 block of West State Street when a tie rod malfunctioned causing the car to pull to the right and strike a legally parked Honda CRV pushing it into a legally parked Audi and then continued west sideswiping both vehicles. No injuries were reported. Eller was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to the Eller car was estimated at $1,500 while both the other vehicles had an estimated $5,000 each in damage.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, May 9, a case of vandalism was reported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. Damage was estimated between $1,000-$10,000.

Accidents

• On Friday, a car driven by Loren David Bailey, 57, of Gilman, was southbound on Highway 14 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $1,800.

• On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Marci Ann Nichols, 45 of Marshalltown, was northbound on Hopkins Avenue when it struck two deer that were crossing the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Nichols vehicle was estimated at $2,500.
