Court — Monday

• Melvin Martin Jr. made an initial appearance on two counts of a failure to appear for pre-trial conference charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. Tyler Heeren is appointed as counsel. The rescheduled pre-trial conferences and the new pre-trial conference are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 27 in Magistrate Court. Martin is released on his promise to appear.

• Aaron Levi Ditmarson made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a operating while under the influence-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 12. Ditmarson is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Justin Lee Harris made an initial appearance on three counts of a unauthorized use of a credit card charge and three counts of a theft-fifth degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 12. Harris is released on his promise to appear.

• Bandak Ruon Thiech made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Thiech pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• Angela Marie Ruiz Rivera made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Ruiz Rivera pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days.

• Joseph Wade Bown made an initial appearance on a forgery charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 12. Bown is released on his promise to appear.

• Seth Ringgenberg made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-second offense charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a seat belt violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 12. Ringgenberg is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Jacob Lee Rowley made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. The charge was amended to a driving under an expired license and Rowley pleaded guilty. The fine is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50, due within 30 days.

• On Friday, a case of vandalism to property was reported in the 800 block of West Main Street.

• On Friday, a case of vandalism to property with damage valued between $1,000-$10,000 was reported in the 200 block of West Madison Street.

• On Friday, a hit and run accident with property damage only was reported in the 400 block of North 10th Avenue.

• On Saturday, a theft of a motor vehicle was reported iin the 2500 block of South Sixth Street.

• On Sunday, a theft was reported in the 200 block of South Third Avenue.

• On Sunday, a theft was reported in the 10 block of West State Street.

• On Sunday, vandalism to property in the commission of a burglary was reported in the 600 block of Maytag Road.

• On Tuesday, two thefts from motor vehicles and a burglary of a motor vehicle were reported in the town of Le Grand.

• On Friday, Anthony Phillip Kaster, 36, was arrested for driving under the influence-first offense.

• On Friday, Cora Edna Marie Mattingly, 24, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Saturday, Shannon King, 21, was arrested for failure to maintain a reasonable and proper speed, no valid driver’s license, driving under suspension and driving while license is denied or revoked.

• On Saturday, Randy Oberhokamp, 61, was arrested for operation without registration, no insurance, no valid driver’s license and driving under suspension.

• On Sunday, Jennifer Lea Reynolds, 38, was arrested on a warrant from another county.

• On Sunday, Jaime Morales-Garcia, 33, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense.

Grundy County Sheriff

Accidents

• On March 17, a semi driven by Ruel Reed, 48 of Rosedale, Md., was eastbound on Highway 20 attempting to overtake a vehicle driven by Ana Mendoza Carrillo, 28, of Lime Springs, when the semi pulled back into the right lane causing the Mendoza Carrillo vehicle to spin out of control and come to rest in the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Mendoza Carrillo vehicle was estimated at $4,000 while the Reed semi sustained an estimated $500 in damage.
