• Christina Michelle Manley made an initial appearance on a theft-second degree charge and a dependent adult abuse charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 8. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Steven Ray Ralls made an initial appearance on a pre-trial release violation charge. Pre-trial release is revoked and a bond of $2,000 cash only is instated.

• Dean Allen Oziah made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. Oziah pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court. Aron Vaughn is appointed as counsel.

• Heather Ashby made an initial appearance on a truancy charge. Ashby pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Crystal Marie Lennie made an initial appearance with counsel, Tyler Heeren on a probation violation charge. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Lennie is being held without bond.

• Christine Lynn Bennett made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a pre-trial conference charege. The pre-trial conference is rescheduled at 1:30 p.m. on April 12 with a jury trial rescheduled at 9 a.m. on April 18. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Damaris Elizabeth Garcia made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Garcia pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Juan Saldana made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge and a trespass-first offense charge. Saldana pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court. Saldana was released on his promise to appear.

• Antonio Martinez made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Martinez pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Brian Ray Hammer made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. Hammer pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Aaron Darrell Bea made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-second offense charge, a possession of cocaine charge, a keeping a premises or vehicle for the purpose of using or selling controlled substances charge, four counts of a child endangerment charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 18. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days. Four no-contact orders have been issued for the protected parties.

• Yolanda Corona Garalazo made an initial appearance on a truancy charge. Corona Garalazo pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Gilbert Emery Brown made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. Brown pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Todd Raymond Bird made an initial appearance on two counts of a trespass charge and a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge. Bird pleaded guilty to one trespass charge and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $455. He also pleaded guilty to the criminal mischief charge and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75. All payments are due within 30 days. Bird pleaded not guilty on the second trespass charge and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

• Sergio Rodriguez Parra made an initial appearance on a truancy charge. Rodriguez Parra pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 1 in Magistrate Court.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Creedance Duncan, 28, was arrested for operating while under the influence-first offense, speeding and open container.

• On Thursday, Christina Manley, 37, was arrested for theft-second degree and dependent adult abuse-exploitation over $100.

• On Thursday, Christine Bennett, 46, was arrested for theft-third degree.

• On Thursday, Jonathan Lee Robinson, 32, was arrested for harassment-third degree.

Accidents

• On Friday, a car driven by Nicholas Aloysius Welter, 84, of Marshalltown, was exiting his driveway when he depressed the gas instead of the brake, went through the ditch onto the road and collided with the front bumper of a pickup driven by Vincent James Martinez, 26, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Welter was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Welter car was estimated at $1,000 while the Martinez pickup received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a truck and trailer driven by Timothy Kipchirchir Kisang, 33, of Killeen, Texas, was on the Highway 30 off ramp when it rolled through the stop sign and collided with a semi driven by Lucas Riley Walker, 25, of Alden. No injuries were reported. Kisang was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to the Kisang truck was estimated at $2,000 while the Walker semi received an estimated $1,000 in damage.
