Marshalltown woman faces arson charge in connection with March fire

A Marshalltown woman has been charged with arson in connection with a March 10 house fire at 107 E. Lincoln St.

According to a press release from the Marshalltown Fire Department, police and fire personnel determined that the blaze was intentionally set during the initial investigation, and on Wednesday, 64-year-old Kristi A. Franklin was charged with second degree arson, a Class C felony.

Franklin, also known as Kristi A. Cronin, is listed as the owner of the property at 107 E. Lincoln St. according to the Marshall County Beacon website. On the day of the fire, she was briefly reported as missing before she was located safely in Marshalltown.

The incident remains under investigation. If anyone in the community has relevant information, they are asked to call the Marshalltown Police Department at (641) 754-5725 or Marshall County Crime Stoppers at (641) 753-1234.

Marshalltown Fire Marshal Joshua Warnell said that at this time, Franklin is not suspected of being involved in other arson incidents within the community over the last year.
