The annual Rhodes Fall Festival was held Friday and Saturday, bringing residents and visitors together for some frivolity. While the event was well-attended the first day, the colder temperature on Saturday kept some people at home.

However, in Memorial Park the attending children and parents still engaged in a variety of activities, such as yard games, crafts and races.

One such race was Saturday’s Scarecrow Relay which had three participants in the first round – Bentley Sosa, Grady Buck and Enmily Guinn. Each racer had to complete tasks, starting with jumping over a hay bale and slipping on a pair of bibs. From there, they ran to the next line of bales and put on a flannel shirt and belt. At the next set of hay bales, the racers had to place a hat on top of their head and get straw included into their outfits by placing bunches around their wrists and ankles. At the final set of hay bales, racers had to throw corn cobs over the neighboring bale to scare away the “crows.” The first person to get all of the tasks successfully completed was the winner, which was Sosa.

Starting at $4.38/week.
