Water quality should still be tested

My cholesterol is too high and my doctor recommended a new diet, medication, exercise and another test in six months. If I don’t follow my doctor’s orders it could lead to heart disease. The new plan and test will require effort on my part, but I’d rather spend the money and effort elsewhere so I’m going to follow the leadership of our governor. I’m going to stop testing.

Iowa’s water quality is testing high in soil erosion, excessive nutrients from chemical fertilizers, feces and e coli bacteria. All of these lead to harmful algae blooms, fish kills and human health problems. Last year brain-eating amoebas killed a swimmer at Lake of Three Fires in southern Iowa. Our governor’s solution for our water quality problem is to stop the funding for testing the water.

If the person you voted for supports this nonsense, at the very least give them a call or an email. At the most, vote for lawmakers who want to improve the water quality in Iowa.
