Feenstra’s gaslighting

In the Marshalltown Times Republican Editorial Forum, Rep. Randy Feenstra has a habit of writing editorials to make it sound like he’s busy doing his job and not just collecting PAC money from Bruce Rastetter. The July 22 issue of the T-R was no exception. Instead of writing legislation about our cancer rates or our dirty rivers and lakes he’s gaslighting about voter fraud. He wants to “Safeguard American Voter . . .” What makes this silly is that all these laws are already in place and enforced. Regarding our last presidential election: “The November 3rd election was ...

The clock is ticking

Tic-Toc Tic-Toc the clock is ticking for all of us. Old people die of old age, young people don’t know when the clock will stop ticking for them. The Bible says seek the Lord while He may be found. Look around you people, the world is in complete chaos, ran by mankind. The Bible tells us this is the way it will be during the end time. Peter St. Onge, economic research fellow at Roe Institute for economic policy studies, said in an article that before 2020 the richest 1% of Americans controlled $30 trillion according to the Federal Government. Now four years later, they control $45 ...

A successful sesquicentennial celebration

We are still catching our breath from our successful sesquicentennial celebration of the historic Binford House. The event was attended by many people who heard about early history of people of Marshalltown and Marshall County by touring the Binford House, Sower-Glick Home and Taylor #4 School, feasting on Marshall County Cattlemen grilled burgers, sno cones and cotton candy while listening to a melting pot of music with Bill Wilson’s Irish Music, the Sweet Adelines, MHS Band Jazz Band and a Latin Band. Trudy Wilson and Pete Grady re-enacted Thaddeus and Angelica Binford to listen ...

Urging Congress to prioritize PBM reform

As a Certified Dementia Practitioner helping provide education and support to the metro, I see firsthand the challenges faced by adults and families dealing with dementia and memory loss. My passion lies in providing the best possible care and resources for these individuals and their caregivers. Unfortunately, the current system, dominated by Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), presents significant obstacles to this mission. PBMs, the intermediaries between insurers, drug manufacturers, and pharmacies, wield immense power over the availability and pricing of prescriptions. Their ...

Unreal driving

I don’t think driving in Marshalltown can get any worse. At 6th St. and Merle Hibbs I had one car coming from the west shoot out in front of me and one from the east then started to pull in front of me. When I layed on the horn the woman looked at me with confusion on her face. They had stop signs I did not. At 9th St. and Summit, by the armory, a car coming from the north and one coming from the south didn’t even attempt to stop at the stop signs. Right across the street. Then I was going south on 12th Ave. the other morning and an old van couldn’t wait to get around a slow ...
