Despite a winless record in CIML Iowa Conference play, the Marshalltown High School baseball team was still represented on the all-conference first team.

MHS junior Nick Rebik was named first-team all-CIML Iowa for his performance on the diamond this summer, and classmate Seth Smith was an honorable mention selection.

The Bobcats went 3-35 overall and finished 0-23 in league play, but Rebik still managed to lead the league in batting average. Rebik batted .509 out of the leadoff spot in CIML Iowa play and led Marshalltown in every major statistical category: hits (29), runs (13), singles (20), doubles (7), triples (1), home runs (1), RBIs (8) and stolen bases (15). He struck out only five times in 57 conference at-bats.

Rebik also compiled a .930 fielding percentage while playing primarily center field but also putting in time at catcher and on the left side of the infield.

This marks the third all-conference honor for Rebik, who was a second-team honoree in his first two seasons as a Bobcat.

Smith, also a junior, received honorable mention laurels for his first all-conference accolade. Smith batted .255 in conference play while tallying 14 hits, five runs, two doubles, six RBIs and five stolen bases.

Primarily a shortstop or third baseman, Smith also led Marshalltown in innings pitched (22) and strikeouts (13) during conference play. He finished with an 0-3 record on the mound with an 8.59 earned run average in league games.

Starting at $4.38/week.
