Drake rallies past Belmont
DES MOINES — The Drake women’s basketball team held Belmont scoreless over the final 4 minutes, 20 seconds, to rally past the Bruins for a 69-65 win between Missouri Valley Conference frontrunners.
Drake (13-4, 6-0) outscored Belmont 12-3 over the final six minutes to hand the Bruins (12-5, 5-1) their first league loss.
A 23-13 fourth-quarter advantage got Drake over the top after having trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half.
Taylor McAulay led Drake with 17 points, Courtney Becker and Grace Berg added 16 apiece and the Bulldogs remained as the only unbeaten team in the MVC. Anna Miller added nine points.
Kendal Cheesman scored a game-high 18 points to lead Belmont.
