Panthers put away Murray State, 95-75
CEDAR FALLS –The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team played host to the Missouri Valley Conference’s top offense, but the Panthers showed the Racers a thing or two.
Emerson Green scored a game-high 23 points on 11-of-15 shooting, and Maya McDermott and Kayba Laube added 20 points apiece as the Panthers outscored Murray State 95-75 in Friday night’s MVC showdown at the McLeod Center.
Northern Iowa (5-9, 4-1) handed the Racers (12-3, 5-1) their first conference loss behind a fast start that was a display of offensive efficiency. The Panthers led 55-29 at the halftime after shooting 22-for-40 (55 percent) from the floor before the break.
Murray State outscored UNI 46-40 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.
Grace Boffeli contributed 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for UNI, and Shateah Wetering added eight points.
Katelyn Young, Hannah McKay and Haven Ford scored 12 points apiece to lead Murray State.
