Junior Achievement program at Delta Kappa Gamma

Psi Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma held its October meeting at the Marshalltown Public Library. Erica Finders head of the local Junior Achievement Program presented the program. Finders gave details about the program offered in the Marshalltown Community School system. She shared the structure of the program and positive comments from students and program presenters. Presentations to students are made by volunteers and school staff. She invited anyone interested in volunteering to contact her. The Spinning Wheel Chapter NSDAR met Oct. 19 at Glenwood Place. A brunch was served with Regent Barbara Wacha as hostess. Capt. Chris Jones, of the Marshalltown Police Department, spoke about the new Police and Fire Department facility. He told of the advantages of the new building and of the many years that went into the planning, finding the location, joining with the Fire Department and acquiring the funding required to get to the present building. Marshalltown Elks use Beacon Grant to assist YSS

The Elks Lodge announced that it has again this year, used the ENF Beacon Grant to help Marshall County Youth and Shelter of Marshall County (YSS). The Lodge’s Grant committee, along with staff members of YSS, recently completed a $2,500 shopping spree purchasing household essentials for older youth who have recently “aged out” of foster care. YSS’s commitment and the Elks commitment helps these youth to become more confident, less stressed and proper members of the community.
