During the March meeting of the VFW Harry C. Harter Post 839, held at 6:30 p.m. on March 21, American Legion member Bob Miller presented the Combined Honor Guard report for February. He reported three funerals receiving military honors. The Honor Guard also conducted military honors and provided pall bearers for two funerals at the Iowa Veterans Home cemetery for two residents who did not have any family members present. VFW Auxiliary Post 839 holds March meeting

The March 2023 general membership meeting of the VFW Auxiliary Post 839 met at the post home on March 21. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Liz Polkiewicz, followed by the opening ceremonies according to the ritual. There were eight members present, and each of the members are officers. There was one guest present. Chaplain Donna Mitchem gave the Opening Prayer. Federation of Women’s Clubs holds board meeting

The Marshalltown Federation of Women’s Clubs Board Meeting was held at 9:30 a.m. on March 9 at Binford House with eight members and two guests present. Ce Hubbard, president, presided. Continued discussions were held of the organization’s historic and community responsibilities in Marshall County with programs, events and upkeep of the 1874 Binford House, 110 N. Second Ave., in Marshalltown. Board members and volunteers plan and make these efforts happen. The English Tea traditionally served in May is in the process of being planned with publicity soon to be announced.
