Liscomb Auxiliary has many activities planned

The Liscomb Legion Auxiliary Unit 87 met July 27 at the Union Public Library. There were five members present. President Sharon Hatch called the meeting to order. Chaplain Dorothy Sorensen gave opening devotions. The Pledge of Allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble were recited. A moment of silence was observed for MIA/POW and deceased veterans. An election of officers was held, and all previous holders carried. The Marshall County Fall Conference will be held in Beaman on Sept. 18. Chapter JU discusses park walking

Chapter JU of the PEO Sisterhood, held an outdoor meeting at the Sixth Street Softball Complex on Monday. Chaplain Connie Stansberry gave the devotions and President Marlys Smith conducted the business meeting. Members discussed amendments which will be voted upon at the upcoming September meeting of the International Convention. The convention will be held virtually so all members will have an opportunity to join in. Following the business meeting, members enjoyed a program presented by Ann Bresler. Alliance presents projects at Kiwanis

Marshalltown Kiwanians from the Noon and P.M. clubs held a joint meeting on Wednesday at Legends American Grill for lunch and a program. Amber Danielson, executive director of the Marshall County Arts and Cultural Alliance, spoke about the organization’s mission and development along with recent and upcoming endeavors in the community. The Police and Fire Departments building is receiving a new sculpture. American Legion Auxiliary discusses many issues

A recent American Legion Auxiliary Unit 46 meeting was held. The treasurer’s report was given by Amy McCready. A budget committee was appointed by President Deb Miller to form the new budget for the following year. Members of the committee are Barb Blake, Meg Sponseller, Dorothy Hellberg and McCready. They will present the proposed 2021-2022 budget at the next ALA general membership on Aug. 10. The membership report was given by Sponseller. VFW sets programs

The Marshalltown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 on Tuesday processed a batch of business topics, including final elections of officers for the 2021-2022 year. Rob Shepherd was re-elected with most of his staff, and he presided over the meeting. Among items of business Shepherd and Rick Johnson led planning toward facility repairs at the Harry C. Harter Post, including roof repair and updating outdoor signs. VFW Auxiliary holds meeting

The VFW Auxiliary of Post 839 met at the post home on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 6:30 PM. Senior Vice President, Diane Welch opened the meeting according to ritual. 10 members were present which included 6 officers. Two guests, Sandy and Sue from the IA Department were also in attendance.
