Rebik reels in another accolade

MHS outfielder named to IAC North 1st team

Playing in the Iowa Alliance Conference’s North Division brought out the best in Nick Rebik.

Marshalltown’s senior center fielder was named to the all-conference first team for the second year in a row after batting .410 against divisional opponents, doing his part and more to help the Bobcats find their way through another rough summer on the diamond.

Rebik was named to an all-conference squad in each of his four seasons. He was twice named to the CIML Iowa Conference’s second team before earning first-team honors last year.

This season, Rebik led the Bobcats with a .397 batting average, 29 hits, eight doubles, two triples, a .500 on-base percentage and a .526 slugging percentage. He scored 15 runs and stole seven bases, batting either first or third in the Marshalltown lineup.

Rebik missed seven games due to injury but still scored all-conference honors for the second year in a row. He’s the first Bobcat to do so since Joseph Harris in 2019-2020.

Rebik ranked seventh in the IAC North with his .410 batting average.

Four more Bobcats were named to the North Division’s honorable mention unit, including the other two seniors. Seth Smith scored postseason accolades for the second year in a row, while Keiler Blue earned his first all-conference laurel. Junior Caleb Kusserow and sophomore Sam Greazel also made their all-conference debuts in receiving honorable mention.

Smith batted .246 in conference play with team-highs of 13 hits and eight runs scored. He also stole six bases.

Blue pitched more innings (23 1/3) than any other Bobcat in conference contests, going 1-3 with 27 strikeouts.

Kusserow batted .192 in league play while serving as the team’s primary catcher during conference action. He threw out four would-be base-stealers while himself stealing a team-leading seven bags in North Division play.

Greazel hit .240 in divisional games with three doubles and a team-best 12 runs batted in.
