MHS volleyball pounds Polar Bears in Senior Night sweep
It wasn’t target practice, but it sure seemed like it.
The Marshalltown volleyball team took aim at Des Moines North for Senior Night on Tuesday inside the Roundhouse, rattling off 16 service aces en route to a 25-5, 25-6, 25-14 triumph over the Polar Bears in Iowa Alliance Conference play.
The Bobcats (6-18) served 66-for-72 on the night and compiled a whopping 16 aces in the three-set sweep. Junior Ellie Hughes went 14-for-15 with seven aces, Kennedy Feldman was 14-for-17 with five aces, and Jordyn Daggett was 21-for-21 with two aces to power Marshalltown’s success at the service line.
Feldman and Amaya Moore both totaled nine kills to lead MHS offensively, Ella Roush added eight kills, and Rebekah Downs finished with five kills. Marshalltown junior setter Gaby Estabrook totaled 18 assists on the night, while Hughes handed out six more and Kinsley Bowie added three.
Defensively, Roush made two blocks at the net, while Daggett was the leading passer with nine digs. McKenna Coleman chipped in with six digs and Feldman had five more.
