Chapter JU plays a round of Jeopardy

A business meeting of Chapter JU of the P.E.O. Sisterhood was held on Oct. 4 at the home of Ann Isgrig, Marshalltown. Nineteen members were in attendance. Correspondence included a letter of transfer and two thank-you notes. The next meeting will be Oct. 18 and will include a memorial for JU Sisters who passed away recently. After the business meeting, Isgrig divided the group into teams to play a game of Jeopardy. Chapter MJ welcomes new transfer member

The regular monthly meeting of P.E.O. Chapter MJ was held virtually on Zoom at 7 p.m. on Oct. 4. President Rheba Yost called the meeting to order with 11 members present. Yost gave a quick review of changes made at the recently held International Convention. A letter from Alexa McCulley was read accepting the invitation from Chapter MJ to transfer from Story City Chapter FZ to Chapter MJ. Heart of Iowa Chorus hosts Guest Night

Heart of Iowa Chorus, a member of Sweet Adelines International, is hosting a Guest Night at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the Central Christian Church, 300 W. Main St., Marshalltown. Any women who love to sing are invited to join us. Use the steps on the west side of the church to enter. The chorus requests the wearing of masks while singing for the time being. The chorus recently celebrated 55 years in Marshalltown. The Heart of Iowa Chorus sings a capella, four-part harmony in barbershop style.

Third District American Legion Auxiliary Fall Conference

Third District Fall Conference 2021, was opened at 9 a.m., Oct. 2, in the Radcliffe Community Center, Radcliffe, in form by PDP and Iowa’s NEC Kelly Elliott acting as Parliamentarian introduced Vice-President Sandy Scallon as resignation of President Pat Williams due to health issues. She was officially installed by Elliott. Guest State President Doris Jackson and Membership Alida Kolthoff were introduced. Roll call revealed 30 attendees. Ave Maria Study Club will honor its namesake

The Ave Maria Study Club met in the Madonna Room at St. Henry Church at 1 p.m. on Sept. 20. Rose Ann Jero led the meeting with nine members and guest, Geri Best, present. The Rosary was prayed to open the meeting. In recognition of Grandparents Day on Sept. 12, all present shared a memory of their grandparents. Jean Miller led a prayer for Protection during Pandemic, written by Archbishop Jose Gomez, president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.
